I do not believe you had copied the proper characters. I copied from your email into oXygen and those characters appeared as squares.

So I went to charmap.exe on Windows, found the appropriate character in the Arial font, copied and pasted into a sample document and formatted with the Arial font.

Attached result, no issues.

Leads me to believe that the character below in your email is not U+20BA (Turkish Lira Sign).

Sorry, but this is NOT fixed. The writer had inserted inline images for the symbols, so I thought I had fixed it, but I was seeing the images, not the symbols.

So, my issue still stands if you can provide any support on fixing.

Thanks.

I figured out how to fix this.

Turns out I had an older version of the Arial font set installed. I installed a more recent version of the Arial font set and now the symbols are appearing. Apparently, the Ruble and Lira symbols are relatively new ones.

Subject: Russian Ruble and Turkish Lira currency symbols not appearing

Hi,

We are using the DITA OT and RenderXEP Version 4.24.444 to generate PDF.

In our PDF, the Russuan Ruble: ₽ and the Turkish Lira: ₺ currency symbols are appearing ask blank squares.

Other currency symbols, such as Indain Ruppee ₹, Japanese Yen: ¥, South Korean Won: ₩, Phillipin Peso: ₱, Euro: €, and Pound Sterling: £ are displaying properly.

I know it must have something to do with our font configuration, but in looking at my xep.xml file and reading through the xep documentation, I am not clear on what needs to be added to that file so that these symbols are being rendered. I took a stab and added <code-range from="0x20A0" to="0x20CF"/> to the <charset name="Symbols00259"> but that didn’t work.

I have attached my xep.xml file.

Thanks,

Rhonda Fitzgerald
