Thanks Kevin,
Your answer makes sense. I think we are in the case where we have a bitmap
(screenshot) as a background of our SVG. We'll check the resolution of
that bitmap.
Sorry if my question was not clear. The problem I had was that, whatever
the width and height defined in the SVG, I had to define the width in the
Dita source file to get my image displayed at the "right" size in the PDF.
For example, to have an image with a width of approximately 127mm in the
PDF, I set the image width in Dita to 600px, which means that a 120 dpi
resolution is applied. But you're right, this is probably because of the
bitmap in the SVG.
Best regards,

I am trying to understand the question.

1) If an image has no resolution inside the image itself, it will be
treated as 120dpi – this applies to bitmap images only.
2) If an image has a resolution, it is used

**Now, this means only that whatever size you tell the image to be, it is
placed “as is” inside that container as is. Nothing is done to it. No
resolution is changed at all.

3) If you are using SVG’s, there is no resolution (except for any
bitmap you may have inside the SVG). A circle is a circle, a line is a
line and a rectangle is a rectangle. They are not bits of data. It is
drawn into the PDF as vector directives.

So to create a “print quality” PDF, insert bitmaps into the PDF that are
300dpi at the size you are specifying for them. SVG has no impact on this
as there is no “resolution”.

Subject: [xep-support] Image resolution in PDF output

Hello,
>From what I saw in the user guide, it seems that the image resolution
defaults to 120dpi when not set in the image description (for PDF output).
I need to create PDFs with a resolution of 300 dpi (press quality) but
can't find how to modify the default resolution. I'm using SVG graphic
files and, by definition, they are resolution independent. Does anybody
has had the same issue and found a solution?
Thanks & regards,
