Jerry,

XSL 1.1 provides a feature called "flow maps". A flow map maps flows to  
regions on pages, different pages may contain regions for different flows.  
For example, "All Koans" in Issue 2 starts on page 1 but continues on page  
4 since pages 2 and 3 don't have a region for the flow.
