Actually that is not correct.

When using a PDF as an "image", no links are retained as they as
annotations.

The effect you see in your merged sample is because The viewing agent of
your PDF is making the text google.au.com into a link automagically (because
it looks like one).

The reason "Objective Website" is not a link is because it does not look
like one.

See: http://www.renderx.com/reference.html#PDF

Specifically "PDF images are supported in PDF generator only. XEP is capable
to embed an arbitrary page of a PDF document as a vector image. All related
resources (fonts, images, color profiles) are transferred to the output
file. Annotations (text notes, hyperlinks, etc) are dropped."

You cannot use PDFs as an image and retain annotations (like links). You
would need to put those into the document that you are creating, not the
background.

Subject: [xep-support] placing pdf image on background causes the image to
lose links

Hi,

I'm having an issue adding a pdf image with links as a background image. If
the links are too close to each other, the second link loses the connection:

FO file: background-file.fo

Background-image: background.pdf

Output of file: output.pdf

Is this a known issue?

Regards,

Hugo
