For the record, I get this error with a JVM version 1.6.0.20-b11 and without
any XSLT involved (in fact, only FO to XEP area tree format). This seems to
contradict the 2 conditions mentioned in the message linked below. The same
.fo file works fine with XEP 4.11 and fails with this error with XEP 4.19
(same JVM). I didn't try intermediary XEP versions.

Setting DISCARD_IF_NOT_VALID to "false" is an acceptable workaround in my
case and it works fine.
