If by "it" you are referring to the white space that is inserted  
before colons, semicolons, question marks and exclamation points, I  
can assure you that if you pick up any recent book printed in French,  
that is how it will be typeset.  And whatever the Academy might have  
to say about it will make little difference to our customers...
