[xep-support] DITA Open Toolkit integration using Idiom fo plugin

I apologize in advance for the newbie question ... but hopefully someone
out there has already encountered / fixed this problem.

I just purchased DocBench (w/ XEP Desktop) in order to evaluate it as
part of a low-cost DITA publishing tool chain. Then I downloaded the
DITA open toolkit fo plug-in donated to SourceForge by Idiom
Technologies
(http://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?release_id=396181&group_id
=132728), installed and tested all of the pieces, and then attempted to
build the ditaref-book.ditamap through the toolkit using XEP. For those
not familiar with the DITA open toolkit, it is configured by default to
use fop 0.20.5 for PDFs. Using the default configuration, it takes just
under two minutes to create the 207-page PDF (this includes all of the
XSLT work, not just fop execution) defined by ditaref-book.ditamap.

When I throw the switch to use XEP instead of fop, I get the following
console output (after 528 lines of other ANT and SAXON messages):

transform.fo2pdf:
     [java] java.lang.OutOfMemoryError
     [java] Exception in thread "main"

after sixteen minutes of churning away. I've used the -Xmx option to
increase the java heap limit to 512M, and watched Task Manager's display
of memory allocation to java.exe ... it never exceeds 160M. Just before
the job ends with the error, a second java.exe process spawns, then both
shut down.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Bob
