[xep-support] javax.xml.transform.TransformerConfigurationException: java.io.EOFException: no more input

I've just installed the XEP 3.8.4 trial on a Windows machine, but I'm
getting this, whenever I try to use it

"C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_04\bin\java" -classpath
"C:\XEP\lib\xep384_trial.jar;C:\XEP\lib\saxon.jar;C:\XEP\lib\xt.jar"
com.renderx.xep.XSLDriver -DROOT="C:\XEP" -xml test.xml -xsl test.xsl  -pdf
test.pdf
error: formatting failed:
javax.xml.transform.TransformerConfigurationException: java.io.EOFException:
no more input

Here's my Java version:

java version "1.4.2_04"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_04-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_04-b05, mixed mode)

I gather that "java.io.EOFException: no more input" generally means that a
file that was expected could not be found. What should I be looking for?
