[xep-support] table layout properties

Can anyone explain the relationship among these three properties on an
fo:table as they are implemented in XEP:
table-layout
inline-progression-dimension
width
All three can take a value of "auto" (although I understand that XEP only
supports "fixed" for table-layout at this time). And the last two can take a
length specification (unit value or proportional value). But how do those
values affect each other? Aren't width and inline-progression-dimension
setting the same property in lr-tb writing mode? Which one "wins" if they
are both set?
And what happens when all columns have fixed widths, all columns have
proportional widths, and a mix of such?
Can width="auto" be used when all column widths are proportional?
