[xep-support] render hanging

I have a fo doc that's hanging during render to pdf.  I am unable to
determine the cause, except that it likely has to do with images I've
recently added to my output.
Is there some what that I can turn on verpose messages/debugging using the
commandline?
./xep.sh -somedebuggingflags my_xml_fo.xml my.pdf
