OK, that's exactly what I was talking about.

Well, it would. But it's OK only if you need space as wide as current
font character, otherwise this solution became quite inflexible.

No, it shouldn't. Make sure that you have no spaces before and after
fo:leader.

Actually there is no need for keeps. Just make sure there is no spaces
between leader and words.
