[xep-support] Mystery Font Message

Question: given that there is no .afm file for David.ttf on my system 
(not in any obvious place, anyway), how would I know in advance to use 
the name David-Reg instead of "David" or "David Regular" (the name as it 
appears in Windows Explorer)?
